04 Feb OVID Health and South East London Cancer Alliance to boost lung cancer presentations among hard-to-reach communities
This World Cancer Day, we’re pleased to announce we will be partnering with the South East London Cancer Alliance (SELCA) to reduce the late presentation of lung cancer amongst hard-to-reach groups.
Lung cancer disproportionately affects those from more deprived backgrounds and there is growing concern cases may be caught later due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later diagnosis often leads to worse outcomes in lung cancer.
SELCA is committed to ensuring patients in south east London can receive quick, early diagnosis for lung cancer, to enable them to have the best chance of successful treatment. To learn how to encourage patients from coming forward early with concerning symptoms, SELCA is working with OVID to gain a detailed understanding into the attitudes and behaviours of target groups to inform communications with seldom-heard audiences.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with SELCA, helping them to understand how best to reach those most at risk of late presentation during the national lockdown. COVID-19 has made it even more challenging to engage with hard-to-reach groups, so our work together could not come at a more important time. Our expertise in public health and oncology will allow us to support SELCA in achieving their vital, valuable aims, and we are delighted to be part of such a critical project.” said Jenny Ousbey, Managing Director and Founder, OVID Health.
