25 Jan On The Sofa With OVID Health: Murray Beardmore, CDO (Chief Dog Officer)
In another of our semi-regular “on the sofa” series, we caught up with one of OVID’s very first employees, Murray Beardmore, Chief Dog Officer. Read on to learn more about how Murray has shaped OVID’s culture.
You’re one of the longest-standing members of the OVID team. How long have you been at OVID, and what is your proudest achievement here?

Translation: I’ve been with OVID since the beginning, walking side-by-side with Jenny on the OVID journey. As a boisterous border terrier, I wanted the freedom of more flexibility in my work so I can go to the park whenever I need to! So, when Jenny spotted a gap in the market for an independent agency which could reinvent health communications, I was quick to put my own paw-prints on her idea. In my eyes it’s because of me that OVID is such a flexible working environment.
Having a healthy life-work balance is key. What do you do to keep cool, calm, and collected?
*woof* *woof* *woof*
Translation: Taking a good break during the workday is essential. My lead is always in the office so at lunch time, I love to go on walks around Hammersmith. I’m lucky to have lots of friends in the office who are happy to come with me on a mini adventure. Towards the end of the day, I love to play with my tennis ball, it’s a great stress reliever.
What is your favourite thing about working at OVID?
*woof* *woof* *woof*
Translation: Well, we dogs are enthusiastic, caring and passionate about what we do. I think that’s a good approach to life, and it’s one OVID embraces whole-heartedly, whether we are developing new strategies for patient engagement, ensuring the healthcare system is ready to deliver next-generation treatments for neglected diseases, or helping companies to measure their patient engagement with our Patient Centricity Tracker (PACT) there’s so many opportunities to do work that is truly impactful. I’m just waiting for our first animal health campaign!
What would your advice be any young Communications professionals starting their career who may be thinking about joining OVID?
*woof* *woof*
Translation: Being generous will take you places; the colleagues that feed me treats get my seal of approval, and you’ll need that as a member of our team!
